Engineering Technician
Description
Position Summary: Engineering Technicians in our Aerospace and Defense Systems Group work hand-in-hand with Systems Engineers and other technical specialists to provide critical support to assure product quality and manufacturing efficiency. In this role, you'll leverage your thorough knowledge of electronic theory and engineering methods to conduct system-level testing and address manufacturing errors. Experience with RF devices, testing methods, remote instrument control, and proficiency with electronic test equipment will be key assets. Your expertise in the construction and maintenance of electronic equipment, coupled with knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, will contribute to our commitment to innovation.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assure Product Quality through System Level Testing and Integration Support
Conduct system level testing as directed by Integration Statements of Work (ISOW) and the system engineer to ensure product quality.
Act as a liaison between integration and engineering teams, assisting system integrators with construction queries not explicitly detailed in build documentation.
Aid in integrating systems based on schedules or supervisor instructions to ensure seamless operations. - Collect, Document, and Store Test Results
Conduct pre-tests on instruments before their installation into systems as required by work instructions.
Improve manufacturing accuracy and efficiency by identifying errors in test or integration documentation and providing feedback to system engineers.
Record and store test results, either electronically or as hardcopy, per the directives provided by the system engineer. - Correct and Minimize Manufacturing Errors
Create product and process reports by analyzing information, maintain equipment functionality, and ensure equipment calibration is up-to-date.
Identify and rectify minor manufacturing errors by inspecting and performing necessary repairs.
Coordinate specialized repairs that demand specific skills, equipment, or warranty service, such as defective cables or instruments. - Support System Engineers
Assist system engineers by generating/correcting Integration Statements of Work (ISOWs), cable documents, and other manufacturing-related documentation.
Manage the product and process database by accurately collecting and inputting relevant data.
Train other technicians in equipment usage or testing procedures and contribute to team goals by undertaking related tasks as needed.
Skills
- Thorough knowledge of the principles of electronic theory and engineering methods and procedures.
- Knowledge/experience with RF devices, testing methods and equipment desired.
- Knowledge/experience with remote instrument control methods such as USB, GPIB, RS232, SCPI commands, and LAN desired.
- Knowledge of electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, DMM’s, function generators, network analyzers, power meters, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers desired.
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of electronic and electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of methods employed in the design and repair of research and testing devices.
- Knowledge of computers, peripheral equipment, and related devices.
- Working knowledge/skills using Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of 3-phase line voltage, including testing and hookup desired.
Education Requirements
At least 4 years experience in electronic test and troubleshooting, or maintenance, with a strong emphasis on RF. Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
